Cross-country skiing
You can stay at our log cabin cottages all year round, i.e. also in winter. The cross country skiing tracks start directly in front of the cottages and run approximately 2 km to the cross country tracks of the Laukaa area which provides well tended tracks with a number of resting places, some of them with shelters or huts. The total length of tracks is approx. 250 km/155 mi. Additional information about tracks in Kuusa may be obtained from here.
Down-hill skiing
The nearest slopes for down-hill skiing are found in Jyväskylä at Laajavuori, a 30 minutes drive from Kuusa.
Distances to other slopes:
- Häkärinne (Hankasalmi) approx. 55 km/34 mi
- Himos (Jämsä) approx. 85 km/53 mi
Ice-skating and ice-hockey
Both are very popular sports in Finland. The ice-hockey field of Kuusa is only about 500 m/550 yds away from the cottages.
Nature and hiking
The nature in the Jyväskylä Region fascinates with its diversity. Several nature trails take hikers to green forests, high hills, amazing lookout spots such as lakeside.
Hitonhauta is a rugged gorge in Laukaa, formed by the Ice Age. The gorge is about 800 meters long and 30-40 meters wide, and its rock walls rise vertically to a height of 10-20 metres. In winter, magnificent frozen waterfalls form on the walls of the gorge.
Snow mobiles
We offer guided snow mobile tours and also rent out sleighs.
